| For
the past four years CFAD through the TLTL Awards initiative
founded by Nanda Soobben, individuals in South African
Society who have received little or no recognition
in the media have been celebrated. Individuals including
Strini Moodley, Kessie Govender, Karen Pillay, G Mahalingum
and Nise Malange among others have been recognised
at gala functions hosted by the Centre for Fine art
Animation and Design. Last years function at the Playhouse,
Durban was flighted in a fifteen-minute insert on
Eastern Mosaic (SABC 2) in January 2008. This prestigious
event is coupled with the CFAD Graduation Banquet.
Nanda Soobben, the founder of CFAD, said that the
"Too Little Too Late" Awards were given
to individuals who contributed unselfishly to the
community without the recognition they deserved.
“Most South African artists have highlighted
the plight of the struggle for freedom, and through
their work people were able to break the silence,"
Soobben said.
"These men and women have an incredible talent.
The contributions they have made to the South African
media and art industry are priceless," Soobben
added. |
